This week’s Ask Roz Blue Mountains’ Photographer of the week is actually Videographer John Paix.
John is not a professional Videographer but what he lacks in expensive gear he makes up for with his passion and enthusiasm for the Blue Mountains region. Ask Roz Blue Mountains has regularly featured John’s videos.
It’s just on 2 years since Sue and John retired to Lithgow. John began taking Blue Mountains videos mainly so Sue could see the places where he was walking on their weekly trip up to Katoomba. The decision to start a YouTube channel goes back a little further to October 2012 when Glen Innes (their home town) experienced its first decent snowfall for several years. It seemed to be a good way to share the experience with family and friends; that video now has now had 1000+ views. The channel has more than 200 videos altogether divided into four themes, of which the Blue Mountains playlist is the largest.
John says, “I spent 25 years teaching Science in NSW schools followed by 13 as the local Business Enterprise Centre Manager in Glen Innes,” said John. “Sue reckons I spend more time working on my blogs and videos than I did when I was being paid to work!” “I am learning more each time I go out. My earlier videos seem pretty crude now and I don’t always get things right, but I know that I am helping others to enjoy the magnificent Blue Mountains.”
