The Leura Cascades Picnic area has reopened after being closed for over 12 months following torrential rain in early 2020 that caused flooding and land slippages. Here: https://w3w.co/example.varnish.footprint
The walk down along Leura Falls Creek to the main cascade area and after about 150m at the junction of the Prince Henry Cliff Walk track. We expect NPWS to complete their trackwork soon and that will open up access to the lower cascades and the Prince Henry Cliff Walk.
Picnic: Access to the Picnic area is by foot or bike. For some reason, the BMCC has decided cars can’t have access yet.
This is a great spot for a family picnic. The top picnic area has 5 well-spaced picnic tables and lots of run around space for the kids.
The main “upper cascades” area has only 1 picnic table, while the lower picnic spot, the old men’s pool, has 4. When we were there on Friday 11th June, the lower area was being mowed with a remote control mower, very cool.
You can also see the upper cascades which small, but pretty.

Access: There are 2 entry points. Near the old Solitary Restaurant. Here: https://w3w.co/visa.hampers.pings OR, near Jersey Avenue, Leura. Here: https://w3w.co/customer.polices.curled Our suggested route is via the Solitary Restaurant end as the walk out on the Jersey Avenue end is pretty steep.
Simply park and follow Cliff Drive down to the Cascades. On the Solitary Restaurant end, there is a wonderful new all-weather orange path that leads all the way to the top picnic area.
Return the same way.
