Wilson Park

Description

This is a great park across the road from Lawson heated swimming pool. It also has a children's play area and it's the home of the historic Map of Australia. This is a wonderful park for a picnic.

A spring-fed Fairy Falls Creek flows through the park and was used to supply water for the steam trains from a dam built across the creek in the early 1870s. In 1915, the area was leased for recreation purposes.

The park is bigger than it looks from the road.

Additional Information

It was named after Percy Wilson (1840 - 1916), Councillor of Blue Mountains Shire Council. Percy Wilson was one of the original Trustees of the park. It was also known as Snake Gully in the early days. Wilson Park is bounded by St Bernards Drive, Evans Street and Park Road, North Lawson.
