Hargraves Lookout and Panorama Point

Photo

Description

The lookout offers expansive views of the Megalong Valley. It was named in honor of William Henry Hargraves (1839-1925), who was the Deputy Registrar in Equity. The lookout was officially opened by Councillors of the Blue Mountains Shire on March 17, 1915, and is recognized for its historical significance as one of the first scenic areas developed for tourists by the Blue Mountains community.

You can enjoy the view from the main lookout or take the walkout to Panorama Point. WARNING, there are no fences on Panorama Point. Allow 40min return for the walk to Panorama Point.

Additional Information

The area around Blackheath, including Shipley Plateau, began to develop as a tourist destination in the early 20th century, with the opening of Hargraves Lookout contributing to this development. The lookout has an accessible toilet and 2 accessible lookouts.
