data-offset-key=\"3snh9-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"3snh9-0-0\"><br \/>\nGrants, under Stream 2 of the Local Bushfire Economic Recovery Fund, have been awarded for the following projects:<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"c2jgt-0-0\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"_1mf _1mj\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-offset-key=\"c2jgt-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"c2jgt-0-0\">The Grand Cliff Top Walk \u2013 A World Class Bushwalking Experience ($4 million)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"_1mf _1mj\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-offset-key=\"c2jgt-0-0\">Improving Resilience and Infrastructure for Isolated Blue Mountains Communities \u2013 Mount Wilson, Mount Tomah, Mount Irvine ($814,000), and the<\/li>\n<li class=\"_1mf _1mj\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-offset-key=\"c2jgt-0-0\">Blackheath Golf Course Retention Dam ($500,000).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"2eogd-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"2eogd-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"2eogd-0-0\">The BMCC also partnered with Blue Mountains Tourism for the Blue Mountains Visitor Economy Revitalisation Project, valued at $2.6 million, and this has also been successful.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"5j7g2-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"5j7g2-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"5j7g2-0-0\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"ld2i-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"ld2i-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"ld2i-0-0\">BMCC spokesperson, Cr Mark Greenhill, said it was excellent news that significant funding had now been directed to Blue Mountains City following the 2019\/20 summer bushfires.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"fqql3-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"fqql3-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"fqql3-0-0\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"3g15v-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"3g15v-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"3g15v-0-0\">\u201cOur agitation and disappointment after the last round of Local Bushfire Economic Recovery Funding has shone a light on the plight of the Blue Mountains,\u201d Cr Mark Greenhill said. \u201cThese successful projects will retain and create new jobs in our City, build resilience and increase preparedness for future bushfire season.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"af8eo-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"af8eo-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"af8eo-0-0\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"cn838-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"cn838-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"cn838-0-0\">The BMCC cil made six applications to the Local Bushfire Economic Recovery Fund (Stream 2), for projects. Council also partnered with three other applications from community groups. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"6bpfq-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"6bpfq-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"6bpfq-0-0\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"edu56-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"edu56-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"edu56-0-0\">The Grand Cliff Top Walk is a joint tourism initiative of The BMCC and the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service to develop a world class 13.6km multi-day walk providing spectacular views of the escarpment and Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. The initiative seeks to drive nature-focused tourism by delivering greater accessibility to iconic Blue Mountains locations from Wentworth Falls to Katoomba, including the Charles Darwin Walk. The proposal is responsive to the demand for nature-based experiences and will act to stimulate village-based services and business opportunities, providing economic and employment growth.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"6sc6r-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"6sc6r-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"6sc6r-0-0\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"cct4a-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"cct4a-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"cct4a-0-0\">The BMCC will contribute $440,000 to this project.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"9uqdk-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"9uqdk-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"9uqdk-0-0\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"3avvg-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"3avvg-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"3avvg-0-0\">\u201cBushwalking is one of the most important recreational activities in the City with the highest per capita participation,\u201d Cr Mark Greenhill said: \u201cThe restoration of the flood damaged walking tracks, closed since February 2020, and their improvement will be of great benefit to the local community that has been hit hard by bush fire, flood and COVID-19. The opportunity to recreate and access nature provides positive health and wellbeing outcomes for the community.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"blpsg-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"blpsg-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"blpsg-0-0\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"cf9bd-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"cf9bd-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"cf9bd-0-0\">Improvements to community facilities at Mount Wilson, Mount Irvine and Mount Tomah will improve resilience to natural disasters, improve local social wellbeing, as well as community and visitor infrastructure. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"8ub75-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"8ub75-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"8ub75-0-0\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"606vi-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"606vi-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"606vi-0-0\">This includes:<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"6imjt-0-0\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"6imjt-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"6imjt-0-0\">Additions and alterations to Mount Wilson Hall<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"6imjt-0-0\">Uprade of toilets at Founders Corner, the Avenue, Mount Wilson<\/li>\n<li class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"6imjt-0-0\">Uprade of toilets at Silva Plana, 12-14 the Avenue, Mount Wilson<\/li>\n<li class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"6imjt-0-0\">Renewal of Mount Irvine Community court<\/li>\n<li class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"6imjt-0-0\">Supply and installation of water tanks at Mount Tomah.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"aqom7-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"aqom7-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"aqom7-0-0\">\u201cThis project will meet multiple outcomes. This project will provide the isolated communities of Mount Wilson, Mount Irvine and Mount Tomah will facilities for ongoing community use, across a range of facilities,\u201d Cr Mark Greenhill said.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"1licp-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"1licp-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"1licp-0-0\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"cdgsu-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"cdgsu-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"cdgsu-0-0\">The Blackheath Golf Course Retention Dam is part of strategic firefighting infrastructure in the Upper Blue Mountains, and was a frequently used source of water during the 2019-2020 bushfires. This project involves the construction of a new drainage system that will divert stormwater into the dam, significantly improving its capacity.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"1th9b-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"1th9b-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"1th9b-0-0\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"l3lt-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"l3lt-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"l3lt-0-0\">\u201cThis will support firefighting activities in the vicinity of Blackheath and the Upper Blue Mountains region and strengthen the community&#8217;s resilience to future natural disasters,\u201d Cr Mark Greenhill said.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"1kibc-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"1kibc-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"1kibc-0-0\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"b4kfi\" data-offset-key=\"dpssn-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"dpssn-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"dpssn-0-0\">Meanwhile, the Blue Mountains Visitor Economy Revitalisation Project is a two-year destination management program that will reinstate the Blue Mountains as a key tourist destination in NSW and Australia.
