The museum is in a heritage listed 1868 Mount Victoria Railway Station which was part of the railway line built across the rough terrain of the Blue Mountains. It’s a glimpse into what life was like back then, with interactive displays and hands-on exhibits for people of all ages. The museum also has an extensive collection of tools, equipment and memorabilia from this era.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Exhibits include old photos and maps that tell the story of how this area came to be populated by Australians. You can even explore the station’s old kitchens where meals were once cooked on coal-fired ovens or go on a behind-the-scenes tour where you can see how it works now as well as what it used to look like!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The changing domestic scene is illustrated by costumes and accessories, pottery, historic railways tableware, musical instruments and furniture. Development of the area as a tourism destination and industries such as mining is also depicted. Displays and information on unique local schools are a highlight. Many natural history items depict local and exotic wildlife.<\/p>\n
